Popular New Jersey artist Dick LaBonté is best known for his active scenes of the turn-of-the-century Jersey seashore. His cheerful "sophisticated primitives" have gained him a wide reputation as a successful artist. His best-known painting is not a seashore scene but this fantasy entitled, "Cocktails at the White House". Depicting a gathering of all the Presidents and First Ladies, it was painted in 1984.
